Peace Child Wales was established in 1998 by a group of people based in the small town of Chirk on the Welsh / Shropshire border. The aim of the group is to promote exchange visits between the UK and Belarus, which was part of the former USSR. Since its inception the group has funded several visits of young people out to the city of Brest in Belarus and they have also hosted several groups over in the UK staying in the Chirk / Oswestry area. The group is a registered charity run by local volunteers who organise various fund raising events to support the exchange visits. Since the group was established it has supplied humanitarian aid to the Young Invalids Recovery Programme at the White Lake and also a school for disabled children in the city of Brest. Recently the charity has provided support for a home for disadvantaged young people on the outskirts of the city of Brest which helps young people from disadvantaged families. The Charity has been supported by several local companies and organisation over the years and this help has proved invaluable in helping the group meet there aims. If you would like to help the group with fundraising you can contact us at www.peacechildwales.org.uk |
